Mud, gray skies, cold weather and throat scratching.
Admittedly, winter in Germany can sometimes be challenging.
At least when it’s not snow-white and sunny. But what do you do best in such circumstances? Lock up at home, plunder the fridge and wait for spring time? I think I know something better …
How about a history trip to the Archaeological State Museum Konstanz, for example?
Or you check out the Sea Life Constance, a so-called large aquarium with impressive sea and marine inhabitants from many corners of the earth? A truly exciting and interesting visit and that’s exactly what our article is about today.

As a special highlight there are regular feeding times of the different areas:
- Antarctic: Here the penguins are fed
- Lake Constance Basin: Everything about the local sea dwellers on site
- Rainforest area: Watching a piranha eating is possible here
- North Sea Ground: Sharks and rays are the absolute stars here
- Port of Rotterdam: Werner, a perch weighing almost 100 kg, is the top dog here
As a special current theme world Sea Life has the Bay of Starfish. And as the name suggests, this is about the beautiful sea creatures in their various forms, colors and expressions.
What exactly are starfish? Animals? Plants? They are so-called echinoderms! Everything else can best be admired directly on site.
Sharks, piranhas & rays
So there they are … the majestic predators of the underwater worlds. Peacock eye stingray, blacktip reef sharks or even the legendary rainforest piranhas. A variety of different types of these impressive hunters are there to marvel at the Sea Life and even to watch with feedings.
The Red Sea
In an eight-meter-long underwater tunnel, you can admire the wildlife of the Red Sea.
Countless big and small fishes, turtles and many other animals float here directly above the heads of the visitors. This is truly one of the highlights of the Sea Life.
Welcome to the world of Gentoo Penguins
A total of ten of these cute little animals can be admired in Sea Life.
The penguins’ own waddling and their generally friendly-looking character really make every visitor smile. Incidentally, it seems the penguins really have a great life there. Already three times they got offspring.
The Sea Life is the ideal destination for families.
Especially in the autumn and winter, when outdoor activities usually make only limited fun, such a visit is the perfect alternative. For a visit you should plan about 2 hours. Depending on how intensively one wants to observe one or the other sea creatures, it can of course become a day trip.
As said, book the tickets beforehand to save up to 30%.
And then you can expect a really great and interesting day with impressive animals. Whether jellyfish, turtles, sharks, rays, pipefish, anemones … the list includes thousands of animals.
